William was in Co. G-6th IN. Vol. Inf.
Enrolled 9-17-1861 at Newbern.
Mustered into service 12-31-1861 as a Corporal at Camp Wood in Co. G
Separated 9-22-1864.
Absent since 11-1863
Wounded in the hand at Mission Ridge, TN. on 11-25-1863 at
the Battle of Chattanooga where his brother, John M. was killed.

Bartholomew County History, 1888 Military History Section reads:
Sixth Regiment, Company G.

Hook, John M., cause of death: died November 25, 1863 of wounds in the Civil War
