Frederick N. Chidester, 89, of Flatwoods, Ky., formerly of Port Huron, died Saturday, July 28, 2001, after a long illness. He was born Dec. 4, 1911, in Caseville.
Mr. Chidester was a conductor with the Grand Trunk Western Railroad prior to his retirement. He was a member of Fort Gratiot Lodge 374 F&AM.
He is survived by a son, Mr. and Mrs. Donald (Georgene) Chidester; three stepchildren, Mr. and Mrs. Richard (Sherry) Moore, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald (Elaine) Moore and Mr. and Mrs. David (Gail) Perin; eight grandchildren, David (Amy) Chidester, Joan (Tim) Stoltz, Karen (Tim) Lay, Alan (Kris) Chidester, Shari Walach, Brian (Sandy) Chidester, Julie (Richard) Schwamm and Lori (Doug) Richards; many great-grandchildren; a brother, Mr. and Mrs. John (Zada) Chidester; a sister, Mr. and Mrs. Robert (Betty) Jarvis; and several nieces and nephews.
Private family services will be Sunday, Sept. 2, 2001, in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home, Port Huron. Cremation took place in Kentucky. Interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Port Huron. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the Alzheimer's Association.

Ford James "Jim" Chidester, 63, the beloved husband of Sharon Chidester, of Salt Rock, W. Virginia, went to be with the Lord and Savior on Friday, February 25, 2000. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He loved life, people and the railroad, where he was an engineer for over40 yrs. He was most recently employed by CSX R.R.
He was the son of Fred Chidester, of Russell, Ky. and Isabelle Hazen of Pt. Huron, MI. Survivors include one brother and sister-in-law, Don and Georgene Chidester of North Street, MI., his former wife, Sue Chidester of Taylor, MI., two sons and daughter-in-laws, Alan and Kristine of Colebrook, Conn., and Brian and Sandy Chidester of Allen Park, MI., three daughters and sons-in-law, Shari Wallach of W. Palm Beach, Lori and Doug Richard of Avon Lake, Ohio, and Juli and Richard Schwamm of Windemere, FL. three stepdaughters and sons-in-law, Tammy and Dennis Stanford of Clarksville, Tenn., Kecia Nelson of West Hamlin, W. VA., and Amber and Blain Harris of Italy. He was a grandfather to 17 grandchildren.
